Few Options to Choose the right Conservatory Design

Question: I am interested in expanding the sitting area I have in my house, and that’s why I am considering the option of going for a conservatory. I want some help pertaining to the available options to choose the right conservatory design. Please help me out with this?

Answer: Conservatories are simply a marvelous way to add more space to your house. They look absolutely stunning and can have a number of uses. The best thing about them is that you now have access to a room that is well lit, and will give you a great view of the garden all the time.

Conservatory design can vary. Many companies not only design but also build your conservatory for you, and will offer you a showcase of the various designs that they do. What kind of style you go for is dependent on what your home looks like but a modern contemporary conservatory design will suit most houses, and will add special value to it.

One of the most popular types is the lean-to conservatory which has a straight rectangular structure that is characterized by its slanted roof. This can be converted into a more traditional looking conservatory by adding detailed decoration.

A second option is the gable conservatory. This particular one has a big front with a steep pitched roof, and its main feature is the triangular shape under the end of the roof and the number of trusses within it straight from the roof.

You can also go for the P-shaped conservatory which is usually a combination of the traditional Victorian/Edwardian style merged with a lean-to section to make a P shape. This design is fabulous to look at and creates a huge space that extends into your garden and also has the advantage of having part of the conservatory along it.

A lantern conservatory is another way to go that will give a very grand effect. It has a second layer of windows that basically creates another roof on top of the main roof. It gives the ceiling a lot of height and adds tremendous space. It is best suited to large houses.

Some of the best quality conservatories are made out of either hardwood or aluminum. A hardwood conservatory gives a wonderfully authentic, traditional look and is perfect for those properties that are listed. You can get it in mahogany, oak, beech etc and can choose from a good selection of finishes as well.

A hardwood conservatory can be expensive but is well worth the money. An aluminum conservatory is more similar to a UPVC one but isn’t as good an insulator. An aluminum conservatory is a good choice though if your home is in a commercial location.
